Research Grant - Food Security: Valorization of African Food Sources
For the year 2023 the School of Advanced Studies on Food and Nutrition has launched and awarded one Research Grant for the project entitled Food Security: Valorization of African Food Sources. The grant has a length of 10 months, during which the winner will carry out their researching activity at the University of Parma.
The project Food Security: Valorization of African Food Sources has been created in order to promote opportunities for cooperation with international higher education institutions and to provide researchers with opportunities to pave the way to new research questions and to define new application contexts. The aim of the research project was the valorization of African food sources, in order to improve their functionality in technological, sensory, nutritional, microbiological, safety and authenticity terms.
The School is glad to announce that the research grant has been awarded to Dr HABTAMU HAWAZ TAFFESE, researcher and head of the Molecular Biotechnology Laboratory of Hawassa University, Ethiopia, with the project: “Value Addition, Microbiological and Physicochemical Characteristics of a Traditional Yogurt ‘Ergo’ in the Sidama Region, Southern Ethiopia”.
